What does a day in the life of a president of the board look like?

Every day is different, and that's what I love about this job. I get to check in with the superintendent and make sure she has what she needs.

I also get to do really fun things, like go to our Halloween Bash and dress in costume. Tomorrow, we have the bubble run, so I'm going to be in my gym clothes, running laps with our very athletic students. I'll try to keep up and see if I can outrun them.

There are a lot of fun things, and there's also a lot of really diving into the data. The California School Boards Association is a very important resource to us.

I'm on the delegate assembly there, which means we set the political and legislative agenda for the work we do. We'll be going to the convention in a couple of weeks to hear about promising practices for our students, teachers, and facilities. We'll work to compile that legislative agenda that the California School Boards Association will be lobbying for around the clock in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
