What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?
Because my undergrad was primarily focused on medicine, it did not necessarily help me directly with my career. However, the school I attended played a significant role.
I grew up in Orange County, California, a very diverse area in Southern California where we don't have winter or snow. I then went to South Bend, Indiana, a conservative, not diverse area in the Midwest.
This change really pushed me out of my comfort zone and my bubble. It allowed me to become better at networking, meeting people, and becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable.
I believe this experience significantly contributed to my personal growth and enabled me to put myself out there, network, and secure opportunities like being referred for that role.
