Favorite Parts of Working in the Education Industry as a Senior Vice President of Program Innovation

Pablo, Senior Vice President of Program Innovation at IDEA Public Schools, finds the most rewarding aspect of the education industry to be "changing kids' lives" and tackling significant challenges with positive results. This mission-driven work, stemming from a Teach for America experience and a desire to make a difference, fuels Pablo's career and explains their choice of education over mass communications, which lacked the "heart or passion" for impactful change.

What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

The vision and mission involve changing kids' lives and dealing with huge challenges to achieve positive outcomes. That's why I became a teacher and joined Teach for America.

I ended up working in an area with a huge need. I currently work with a charter school network focused on underrepresented communities, helping them ensure students attend college and are successful.

To me, that is the reason why I do this work, and it's very rewarding. In fact, that's why I decided to go into education instead of mass communications. I didn't feel like mass communications had the heart or passion for making a difference.

I feel like every day we are making a difference, or working to make a difference in the lives of our students.
