How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
Those who can collaborate. I think I've seen that amongst my immediate colleagues and with school board members from other districts and from other parts of the state. It really is having an openness to collaborate in some way.
Of course, there are boundaries, but it's realizing that people are complicated. Getting towards moving the needle on things doesn't have to be huge leaps; it can be little steps.
This shows that we have the same baseline goals, which would be advancing education and improving learning. Having that same attitude with everyone else is also a big piece.
I also have to say another thing would be to really have a sense of care. Care about all the things that are happening, even when it can be overwhelming or something that we're not proud of.
It's important to be there to deal with anything that's happening and to have that internal sense of devotion to it all. I think that is really important.
