What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

One thing I enjoy most, as I mentioned before, is the collaboration. It's always great to interact with other teachers and leaders at our school, especially in lower elementary. We're with the same students all day in our classroom.

Interacting with other adults brings a lot of joy and much-needed self-care. It's also great to learn from them about all the wonderful things they're doing.

I also enjoy the innovation. When I first started teaching, I assumed you got a curriculum and followed it exactly. However, I've learned over the past few years, more so at my current school, that not everything is figured out. And that's okay.

We knew that coming in, so there's a lot of room for creativity and innovation. You can create new things for students to do and new ways for them to show what they've learned. You can also try and revamp different systems to create the most success and joy.
