What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?

I love the freedom that comes with working at a small company. There is a trade-off. You don't have formal training like you would have in an MBB or an analyst role at a larger tech company like Google or Facebook.

But in terms of the type of work you would be doing, you wouldn't have the opportunity to work on something like that in those positions. I need that type of freedom. I don't like when people are telling me what to do all the time, when a manager is micromanaging and looking over your shoulder. I think that's the worst feeling.

In that position, I was allowed free rein. I got everything I needed to finish the monthly expense analysis and the different types of projections. I eventually got to move on to stuff that I found interesting, like strategy and understanding our go-to-market strategy.

This included analyzing different types of consumers and how we should pivot our product during a specific time because of different consumer trends. I wouldn't have ever been exposed to that in solely a finance or accounting position. This opportunity gave that to me.

Again, it may not be for everybody since you don't really have that initial hand-holding, making sure that you feel comfortable and that you know you are doing something right.
