A Day In The Life Of A ThoughtfulGPT LLC Specialist At A Seed Stage AIaaS Startup
A finance and accounting intern at a seed-stage startup spends their day collaborating closely with a small team, "meeting with all of the members...and the CEO," to align projects and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like customer acquisition costs and churn rates. The work is heavily Excel-based, focusing on "presenting data in a digestible way," a crucial skill given the CEO's background outside of finance.

What does a day in the life of a finance and accounting intern look like?
It's pretty filled in terms of meeting with the team on a regular basis. Since the company was made up of only five people before enrolling in the program, I had to meet with all members as a group. I also met with the CEO and the main founder to ensure projects were on schedule and ideas were aligned.
This was especially important since her experience was more with customer service and organizational culture, rather than financial planning analysis. Understanding how different market growth rates can impact specific KPIs, or key performance indicators, of your company is crucial. These are metrics you'd want to improve, looking at different types of organizational objectives or workflows.
For example, in customer acquisition, it's important to ensure your customer acquisition costs are low and your customer churn rate is also low. Being able to identify different types of metrics like that is extremely important. Being able to critically analyze and present data in a way that is digestible to those who may not be data-oriented was mainly what I focused on.
In terms of the actual work, it was a lot of Excel and looking at numbers. That's something I really enjoy. Unfortunately, we didn't have an office. I do prefer working in person, but when you're that early in a company's life cycle, you don't have the funding for an office space yet. So, it could be worse.
