What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

My current role is Strategic Sourcing Manager of Corporate Technology. That's a fancy way of saying I buy things for my company, especially as it relates to software and infrastructure, like any of our cloud services.

Essentially, my main responsibilities involve working with people at Netflix. I ensure they understand what it is they're trying to solve for.

For example, if they say, "I don't like the way we're recruiting talent; it's really hard, and we record it on an Excel sheet," I'll respond, "Okay, there's likely technology that can solve that, and you'll want to buy it."

Then, I delve into the specifics: "What exactly are you trying to fix? What do you not like?" I go through a scoping process with them.

I also handle sourcing and identifying specific organizations and technologies that might fit the problem we're trying to solve. From there, we evaluate the technology and the company we might partner with.

Once the team is ready to move forward, I lead the negotiation of the deal. This covers everything from the price of the technology to who supports it.

It also includes what happens if we decide to terminate our contract and no longer wish to pay. I negotiate all aspects of these agreements.

Finally, I help my stakeholders at Netflix feel confident they're making the right decision, working with their finance and legal teams. This way, when they're ready to proceed, everything is finalized and in order.
