What does a day in the life of a project manager look like?
Right now, I'm working with subcontractors. In the mornings, I check in with them to make sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to be doing.
I'm in charge of the design and ensuring it gets implemented. We have a development team and a design manager. Our in-house architects come up with concepts.
These concepts are then passed to us. We decide what makes sense and what doesn't, then price them up and implement them on the project. I'm also finishing up buying out our remaining key scopes, like site concrete, landscaping, and all the finished trades and amenity stuff.
I'm working on buying out these scopes and tracking the budget and schedule. We have budget and schedule meetings that I run, making sure everything is tracking to finish on time and within budget.
Finally, we're at the point in the project where we're starting to close out contractors. This involves negotiating final change orders and coming to agreements on final project costs. A lot of my work right now involves contractors to get everyone paid and closed out.
