What is your biggest challenge as a project manager?
The thing I love most about it is also the biggest challenge: working with people. Every single day, you're convincing someone to do something they don't want to do.
It can be taxing at times, but for the most part, everyone in this industry has the same mindset of willingness to get something done and do things right. Another challenge I see is constantly holding myself and others to a very high standard.
This can be tough, especially when you see a product that's in place that's not right. You know you're going to have a difficult conversation saying, "Look, this isn't right. We need you to fix it."
It's a tough conversation to have, and I've had plenty of them. Some are harder than others, and some people are more receptive. You have to remind yourself to keep holding yourself to a high standard and making sure things get put in place the right way.
Also, you have to roll with the punches. You're not going to have the same day every day, and you won't always be able to plan it out exactly how you want. You have to be able to change and adapt, go with the flow, but also keep people in line and your vision going forward.
