What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?

I was pretty lucky to have really solid managers throughout the beginning of my career. I was fortunate to have been told many of these things.

Asking questions is huge. Leading by example is also important. My old boss at Webco was a guy who came to work every day before everyone else and left after everyone else.

He set the standard and the quality he wanted. This is infectious. Once you're in an environment where someone is prideful of their work, takes it seriously, shows up every day, and has that attitude, it spreads throughout the entire organization and team. So, leading by example is absolutely huge.

Maintaining high standards for yourself and everyone around you is also key. It's amazing how quickly things can slip if no one is leading the charge for high quality and high standards.

Ensuring everything is done right, safely, and with intention is incredibly important. You're essentially running your project like a business. You have your budget, which is your business budget, and you're developing a product. Every project is a new product you're developing.

You want to do it to the best of your ability and deliver something people will love. It's huge to have that mindset and leadership.
