Could you walk me through your career path? Please start with your experiences in college, any internships, or jobs you had before your current role.
My career path started in college with a few different internships. Most notably, one was with Northwestern Mutual.
Throughout college, I spent a lot of my time working. I was a working student in undergrad, working at restaurants and bartending. This experience was pretty important for me.
Out of college, the majority of my work started in sales. I began my career with a consulting firm called Business Talent Group. They have a pool of independent consultants that they match on a project basis.
This was an interesting starting point. It gave me exposure to many different industries and functions within Fortune 100 companies.
After a few years, I realized I was ready for a more specific and specialized career path. I landed on advertising tech as a space I'm interested in and wanted to pursue long-term.
From Business Talent Group, I went to a few different startups in the ad tech space. One was focused on independent video creators, matching them on content projects. Another focused on out-of-home advertising with a platform to help brands buy billboard space at a discount and last minute.
Lastly, there was direct mail advertising with a tech platform. It focused on providing a good attribution method so brands could understand their campaign success.
The majority of these roles were sales-oriented, including account executives, partnerships, and business development. This all led me to where I am now, working at Google as a Strategic Partner Manager and Team Lead for one of our online publishing partner groups.
