What skills are most important for a job like yours?

I think there are three skills that I find most important. The first is really attention to detail when it comes to any type of grants management or working with multiple partners and providers across the country.

It's about noting who is doing what and keeping that organized. Of course, we're dealing with money going out the door and funding, so I need to know kind of everything that's going on and have my notes and ducks in a row.

I think that's something that I found is probably most important. Very similar, I think, is organization. Just making sure that whatever project is going on, whatever grant cycle we're in, everything is incredibly organized.

I get to work with a ton of different team members across my organization. I need to make sure they know what's happening and feel organized because of what I've given them and the timelines we're both working off of.

Last but not least, I think this is the case in any role across any industry, but especially in the nonprofit industry, is just a positive attitude. So many organizations are tackling such complex and difficult issues.

It can be tough to hear stories of things that people are dealing with. Of course, there's so much positivity in the work that you're doing to help that. Approaching everything with a positive attitude, whether that's a meeting, sharing a story, or working with team members on a project, just make sure you're always focused on bringing positivity to the work you're doing.
