What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success?

Undergrad was a roller coaster of rides for me. My freshman year, I didn't understand how hard I would actually have to work in school. I was always naturally gifted at learning things quickly, and I could get away with procrastinating a lot and winging a lot of my tests in high school.

When I got into college and engineering school, I was shocked. It was a rude awakening that it couldn't be that simple anymore. My first year, I had my lowest GPA, and freshman year is supposed to be your best year.

What really flipped the script for me was my first internship and getting into a real working environment. In school, you're with your classmates. Depending on who you surround yourself with, you can be around dedicated people or people who are still trying to discover themselves and are focusing on socializing.

When I got into the working world and my first internship, I realized this is what it means to be a responsible adult. Waking up every morning to go to a manufacturing floor at 6 AM changed everything. I used to complain about getting up for an 8 AM, and now I had to be there at 6 AM.

This wired my mind to understand that people have expectations, and you should have expectations for yourself. It taught me how to be an adult, and that translated to the rest of my undergraduate studies. I was able to significantly improve my grades and learn how to work with other people in a team environment. This really launched my undergraduate career to get me to where I am today.
