What is one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant in your career?

Good news, bad news, faster. I think triaging and understanding what news needs to go to whom is a skill that's constantly being refined.

This is one of the key lessons I've learned: knowing who to tell what, and when. There's an art to who goes in the CC and who goes in the "to" field.

It's a lesson I keep learning because it changes based on personality and what the executive wants. With teams and all the other communication methods, it can be a little overwhelming.

When I started, you wrote a memo, which was a specific artifact. Now I can message the CFO on Teams, though that doesn't mean he'll respond.

So, to put a finer point on that advice, it's all about communication. It's knowing how, when, and what mode of communication to use to accomplish your goals.
