What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
As the founder of our business, I will say that at this point, it is a small business. Our plan and intention, however, is to grow and scale the company. We are building it with the future vision of it being a multimillion-dollar enterprise that ships and distributes nationally, as well as eventually internationally.
You have to think of it a little bit differently. My role, I see as the founder and visionary of the company. I'm always holding that larger vision of where we're headed, what we're creating, the identity of the brand, the lifestyle that we're promoting, and how we're getting people engaged in that.
From a responsibilities perspective, as you're getting started, it's sometimes a little bit of everything. For me, that mostly looks like overarching business strategy. It looks like funding, so pitch deck creation, propositioning investors, figuring out how we're going to support the business over the long term, as well as marketing strategy.
This includes thinking about how our website engages people from a designer perspective and finding those people to make that happen. It also covers our social media strategy, our paid strategy, and beyond that. Ultimately, it's leadership and team development.
It is very important for me to think about how we are going to hire people, find them, train them, nurture them, and have the right people in place to help us grow and scale. Right now, it feels like everything is part of my responsibility because we're just getting started.
But ultimately, it's that overarching vision: holding that vision, creating the company culture, making sure our company stays funded as we grow and scale, and then leading along the way. This means knowing that it's ultimately my responsibility to ensure every single team member feels good about what they're doing, feels competent, and is excited to contribute to the company as a whole.
