Entry-level Positions for Aspiring Partners at McDermott and Bull

For undergraduate students interested in entry-level positions, Michael, a Partner at McDermott + Bull, suggests targeting "research analyst" roles at larger firms, noting that internships can help secure these positions. Alternatively, starting at a contingent firm and transitioning to a retained search firm is another potential pathway.

Q10: Entry-level positions

What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?

I would look at being a research analyst. Most firms hire research analysts straight out of school. You could also start at a contingent firm, doing recruiting, and then switch over to a retained search firm like ours.

But the best path to take is to find the larger firms and get an entry-level research analyst role. They also have internships that you could do beforehand to get your foot in the door.
