Could you walk me through your career path? Please start with your experiences in college, any internships, or jobs you had before your current role.
Absolutely. In college, I wanted a strong business background. I started with a degree in accounting, then added MIS, or Management Information Systems.
I wanted to understand the systems and processes behind the business. If you understand the business, you also want to understand the technology.
Finally, I added entrepreneurship because I believe in being a self-starter and a go-getter. Even within a business, I wanted to take ideas from start to finish on my own. I feel I gained a good understanding of those three aspects of business in college.
From then on, during my junior year, I interned with Edward Jones. This gave me a deeper insight into the financial sector. After college, I started with Academy Mortgage as a loan officer assistant.
I did that for about two years. It was great because it helped me understand how to take a loan from start to finish while working on someone else's business. I basically had a mentor to teach me the business. After that, I became a loan officer and started my own business.
