What are your main responsibilities within your role as a CEO?
What are your main responsibilities within your role as a CEO?
I'm responsible for setting the direction of the organization. Within IYT, I manage our board of directors and fundraising efforts to ensure we have the revenue needed to execute our mission.
I also help oversee program quality to make sure the young people in our program are experiencing the best of IYT. I'm responsible for the growth of the organization, finding new opportunities to grow the program across the country.
My job changes each year based on the needs of the organization. But what remains consistent, especially in a nonprofit CEO role, is that you set the direction, you have to fundraise, and ensure the organization is financially sound. You're also responsible for executing the organization's vision.
For us, that vision is a nation where young men of color are overrepresented in higher education, underrepresented in the criminal justice system, and leaders in their communities.
