What are some of your main responsibilities in your current role, Michael?

Day to day and case by case, their responsibilities are very frank. If I were to summarize, they would fall into a few different buckets.

One is preparing data, analysis, and synthesis. The analysis group does a lot of data and data analysis; I think the firm in general is the Cadillac of data analysis.

A lot of this involves preparing the communication of those analyses. Numbers are just numbers, but the key is telling a story with them and communicating your findings.

The second is client relationship management. There were a few times I was tasked with mediating or running meetings, or hopping on the phone with clients about various issues and responding to their emails.

I guess there's a fourth thing, which is super important: anything related to teamwork. For example, I would have analysts under me or who were younger than I was. I'd need to manage their workflow, help them get their tasks done, and act as a point of reference or resource for them.

Those were the high levels of my responsibilities. In consulting, what you have to do will vary case by case, and often day by day. No one day is necessarily the same as another; they can be very different.
