Michael, what are some of the biggest challenges in your current role?
Frankly, it all came down to time management. I found myself in a situation where I had taken on multiple cases across different case managers. This meant I was receiving various urgent requests from different people simultaneously.
It was challenging to navigate and balance my time while managing these diverse demands. This led to suboptimal outcomes for me at times, with some late nights due to the difficulty in managing time constraints across different cases.
Another challenge in balancing time relates to personal life. Work-life balance is crucial for anyone seeking an integrated, holistic approach that includes and prioritizes nurturing your personal life.
This can be difficult to achieve and manage well in consulting, given the exigencies of the cases we might be on. If you're up against a deadline and something needs to be completed, it has to be done, and other personal matters might have to be set aside if they are not urgent.
Those were certainly challenging periods for me, but I learned there are ways to balance things in the long run. This makes the job tenable, sustainable, and even enjoyable at times.
