What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

In my current role, my main responsibilities are mostly people-oriented at this stage. My ultimate goal is to ensure that the executional work that our clients are paying us to do gets done.

However, I'm no longer hands-on in that regard and am in more of a senior leadership position. I manage managers at this point. The way I differentiate our responsibilities is that they're tasked with thinking about today, and I'm tasked with thinking about tomorrow.

This can manifest in a number of different ways, specifically related to the people on the ground doing the work. My responsibilities center a lot around learning and development and growth. I work with individuals on these teams to understand their larger career paths, support them in training to expand their skills within their current role, and understand where they'd like to grow in their career.

Most of the folks I support are in their first one to three years on the job post-college. It's a really interesting part of their career to figure out what they want to do, what they're good at, and understand where they can spend more time learning and growing.

Ultimately, my goal is to just see the ship moving calmly and easily. This does tend to mean that if anything goes wrong, it comes to me, and I help problem-solve with the team to get past it.
