What is one lesson that you've learned that has proven significant in your career?

Goals and objectives matter, but job descriptions don't. This is another cliche, and I wish I were more original.

This is something that, early on, you can spot. What differentiates people with a high ceiling from those without is whether they are trying to do their job or accomplish a goal.

Another smaller point, sort of related to this, is don't complain. The moment you're labeled a complainer, no one will take you seriously, or at least no one of any seniority will. It's a bit harsh, but it's honestly true.

I think those are my two main points.
