What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate or graduate student might consider?
I think there are lots of entry-level positions. Internships are the number one starting point.
If there's a platform like Handshake or another where you can connect with individuals and network, always search for internships. Don't wait until after college to get one. Many places are open to students who want to work and go to school at the same time.
Once you're out of college, there are many roles like marketing associate, digital marketing specialist, and advertising analyst. But when you're in college, I highly recommend diving into skills and tools. Always try to get experience in specific technologies.
This will make you much more marketable as a job candidate. Especially as a graduate student, you'll likely go into a more senior role.
Either way, always learn any technology you can, especially in marketing. Having experience with Tableau or Salesforce Marketing Cloud, for example, is beneficial. These are technologies you definitely want as a background when searching for jobs.
For undergraduates, we have marketing associate internships. For graduate positions, I think senior digital marketers and above are probably entry-level roles.
