What skills are most important for a job like yours?
Definitely be proficient in the market, stay on top of what's happening in the real estate market and the economy as a whole. So, be technically proficient, but most important is being able to connect with people and build relationships.
We work with a lot of clients that are in our network. We don't do a lot of online leads and that kind of thing, so people we work with already know us, like us, and trust us. That's kind of our focus with our business.
Really be able to connect with people, and then making sure you're staying on top of all the regulatory changes, as well as what's happening in the market. Most people know about eight real estate agents on average.
It was about a year into my real estate journey where I started hearing prospective clients say, "My last real estate agent never told me that about the market or how to negotiate." I think a lot of folks say, "I have my license, you're going to want to work with me."
Really, it doesn't matter if you have your license or not. They want to make sure that you're proficient in what you're doing.
