Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college and any internships or jobs you had before your current role?
My first official internship was with Fox Television, Fox 10 here in Phoenix. It was a PR internship, and I worked under David Bridger, the sole person in the PR department. He let me try almost anything I wanted at the station to get my feet wet.
I was studying business management and mass communications, which is why I pursued a media internship. I quickly learned that entry-level jobs in that field didn't align with my salary expectations. Plus, the role involved sales, an area where I lacked experience at the time.
While in college, I also worked at FedEx. My duties included manual labor like loading trailers and boxes, sorting, and moving trailers. This job was valuable because it showed me their management hierarchy and leadership programs. Even though the labor was tough, it was good to witness strong leadership.
I graduated in 2003 and went to Vanguard, a mutual fund company in finance. I stayed there for about 13 years, starting in client service. That's where many agents learn the business before moving into wealth management.
I left Vanguard with 200 clients and half a billion dollars under management. It was a valuable experience.
After leaving corporate, I decided to start my own business. I initially planned to start in real estate to free up my time for other passions, but that didn't go as planned. I became immersed in the real estate world and realized that my highest and best use of time was indeed in real estate.
I attempted other business ventures along the way, but each time I got distracted from real estate, I was drawn back into it.
