What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
That's a good question. My job is really multifaceted, which is one of the things I love about this industry. The biggest piece of my role is sales, as a lot of mortgage lenders work off of 100% commission. If you don't bring in business, you don't get paid.
So, sales is the biggest thing. It involves making connections with people who refer me business and getting out there to bring on clients. That's the main focus.
Other than that, there's a whole big piece of figuring out what someone qualifies for. This includes determining the best loan program for them and finding the best deal for their specific situation. Pipeline management is also a big part of it.
With leads coming in and deals flowing, I manage a team of three. This involves overseeing everything and ensuring deliverables are completed on time. Customer service is huge in this business because you need to build a name for yourself.
People look for reputation when making huge financial decisions, like buying a house or other property. So, it's a lot of sales, customer service, and pipeline management, making sure things are flowing day to day. The second you stop, you're done. Those are pretty much the three big things.
