How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?

In the industry specifically, I think there are so many different kinds of roles that it's hard to say what makes people thrive. I'll speak to operations and strategy, the business operations and strategic operations side.

What typically makes you successful here is the ability to always improve technically. This means getting better at data analysis, understanding finance, and understanding how businesses work.

If you can continuously gain technical skills, I think that's super important. Also, people who communicate well are key. People who are technically inclined and communicate well are the perfect combination for operations roles, especially in tech.

You don't need to be as technical if you're operating in a non-tech company. There, you just need to be a good communicator and problem solver. But adding technical skills propels you into being the perfect candidate for tech strategy or tech business operations.

If you're one of those people, even if you're not as technically strong, there's a path for you. Engineers and data scientists who are very technical might not be as good at communicating. If you're a hybrid, that's a perfect path for you.
