Mark's most significant career lesson is "don't be afraid to ask for it," emphasizing the importance of clearly identifying one's goals and directly communicating them to leadership. This proactive approach helps create the conditions for success, as the ability to articulate desires allows the manager to support the employee's aspirations.

What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
The most important lesson I've learned is that once you know what you want, don't be afraid to ask for it. At the end of the day, be clear about what it is you desire.
Most often, asking for something isn't seen as a bad thing. Your ability to be clear about what you want and then ask for it helps your manager or business leader create the conditions to make it happen. So, figure out what you want and then ask for it. Don't be afraid to ask.
