What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
I really enjoy the flexibility of what I can do because in publishing, it's not something that you just do in one day. It's a slow, tedious plan that you have to maximize how you plan things in the beginning.
This plan will determine how seamless or crazy and disorganized things are later. So, you keep the quality up front, make a solid plan, and then you can execute it as you would like to. You coordinate with people.
I really like that there's no one way to write. There's no one way someone writes an essay or manages a whole suite of publications. It's the deliverable that shows up that matters, the one that is on time.
You have the choice to design how you approach projects. You share your methods with your manager or your team and show them the shape of your thought, your idea, and your process. It's like you would for an art project or writing a novel.
Nobody writes the same; writing is like a fingerprint. So, I really like the flexibility in designing my own project work and how I approach things. I like being in control of that.
If I need help, I reach out and see how other people think or how they organize themselves. I learn, I adapt, and I keep my process. We are always building our process, and that's really nice to have.
Tech unites so many thinkers from all over the world to do really cool, innovative things. The multicultural and multilingual environment and what people accomplish despite so many barriers and oceans is really special to be a part of. It creates a nice feeling of unification.
