What does a day in the life of a nonprofit consultant and freelance project manager look like?
Every day looks very, very different. I know that might not be a unique answer, but it truly is that way when you're working freelance or as a consultant.
Depending on the project or the number of projects I have in queue, I might be working with one client on a major event or gala. I could be working with another client to talk to a dean of a business school about their fundraising priorities and how they fit into a larger university campaign. Or I might be talking with an art museum about their donor strategy, their portfolio, and how to optimize giving opportunities to enhance their pipeline over time.
Projects really differ and change. But the most common thing that comes to mind, or that's present every single day, is trying to figure out how I can be of best service and utilization based on the services and scope of work I've presented to a client. It's really making sure that I am always staying committed to the organization, what they want to accomplish, and most of all, what they hired me to do for them.
