What does a day in the life as a Director of Sales look like?

The general rule is that 80% of the time, you're in front of your people. Mondays were usually a full day of pipeline reviews, with 11 people, back-to-back. Mondays were very meeting-heavy.

You're either developing people or uncovering things based on last month's performance. We'd discuss how we've moved forward with the things uncovered and how the numbers are looking compared to last month. We'd also focus on certain metrics.

Usually, there are lots of one-on-ones and a team meeting in the morning. I set the agenda for the day and share any overall business updates. Then I go into one-on-one meetings with the team.

It varies by day and what's going on. Sometimes it's a pipeline review all day with everyone individually. Other times it might be a one-on-one day where I ride along with a person, visit customers, and then do a deep dive review.

There's also usually some sort of training at least two out of the five days. And then there's usually some sort of team meeting for my team, not necessarily with other managers or directors.

There might also be a call with a vice president or a call with the CEO. I'd say that wraps up the day.
