What is one lesson you have learned that has proven to be successful in your career?

One lesson I learned that has been very impactful for me, especially when I started as an intern and for most of my time as an analyst, was that I was really focused on getting tasks done. This meant cleaning up decks, ensuring my data analysis was good, and meeting deadlines.

While it's important to continually do those things, I learned that how you collaborate with others is almost as important. This includes how you communicate and how you support the team.

Both clients and internal team members remember how you make them feel, how you support them, your reliability, how well you listen, and how you remain calm under pressure. They remember this more than just the work you finish late at night.

It's important to build those relationships and rapport with your teammates and clients to ensure you're delivering great work. It's very easy for younger consultants to get caught in the trap of only focusing on tasks, so it's a good lesson to learn as you evolve.
