What is your biggest challenge in your role?
I think this is a challenge that will resonate with most consultants early in their careers. It's about earning respect and trust with clients, especially more senior ones.
It takes a lot of effort to be seen as a trusted advisor. There are multiple techniques you can use, whether it's reading up on the industry every morning, engaging them professionally, or looking around the corner to serve their needs.
However, I think it's an innate blocker for many younger consultants. I would really urge folks to prioritize building that trust right away.
Then, the rest of the engagement goes a lot smoother. You have fewer people looking over your shoulder or doubting your contributions.
