What skills are most important for a job like yours?
The most important skills are flexibility and the ability to manage many different tasks at once. Being a good multitasker is key.
It's also important to be detail-oriented. You need to understand that a large goal requires many smaller tasks to be completed. Prioritizing these tasks is crucial.
This involves time management and analyzing how a big project is made up of smaller components. Then, you need to prioritize those components effectively.
Along with hard or technical skills, you need to be able to work with people. My work is enjoyable, and I'm good at it because I value my relationships with others.
I know that there's a person on the other side of every email. They are doing their part, and I am doing mine. If they don't enjoy working with me, it's unlikely that things will work out.
Everyone should know that while what we do is important, so are our relationships, especially our professional ones. Being a good collaborator is essential.
Even with stressful or busy schedules, being able to manage that stress is helpful. People appreciate not being stressed out, especially when there's a lot to do. Remaining calm goes a long way.
When people are working on ambitious projects that involve new or nerve-wracking tasks, they can trust that the person they're working with is calm and a pleasure to work with. This helps a lot, as work can often be chaotic. These smaller aspects are very important.
So, definitely have detail orientation, be able to prioritize things, and manage your time.
