What is one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
There have been many factors, but this one stems from my administrative background. I believe people recognized me and my success in that role for a very simple reason: the importance of being quick and helpful with responses.
This is specific to my role, but it translates to any position involving customer relationships. It's critical to respond quickly and in a way that's easy to understand. Good communication and letting customers know you're available and will respond when they ask a question are key.
I can't tell you how many times customers asked for my manager's email. Their feedback was always the same: "Liz's communication has been phenomenal. Our CSMs take days to get back to us, but she's so quick."
This really catapulted my career. I was promoted to a senior CSM, and it was the one thing everyone knew me for. It sounds simple, almost silly, but it was critical to my success and what my customers loved about me.
So, my biggest lesson is communication. Being quick, efficient, and responsive makes a massive difference for your customers. People lose customers simply by not responding quickly enough. You don't realize the impact until people constantly compliment you for it. That's probably the number one thing.
