What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

Okay. My role in the nonprofit industry is similar to what I've discussed. Our mission is to serve those who need housing, and our motto is "A roof is just the beginning."

Although we're in the real estate industry, building apartments and housing people, I love that we provide services on top of that. My team is involved with digital literacy, and we offer after-school programs and homework clubs.

We teach seniors at our communities about email safety, how to log into a browser, and how to create an email. We also teach them how to pay rent online as part of this digital literacy program. If they complete it, they receive a free tablet or Chromebook.

The nonprofit affordable housing industry has a requirement to provide services, and I feel good about that. It's a requirement that helps our residents be successful. We're not just providing a roof; we're helping them better themselves and get educated.

We also have after-school services for children whose parents might not be able to get daycare. For our seniors, we have meal programs and brown bag events.

Overall, I love that the nonprofit affordable housing industry provides services beyond just the housing we build.
