What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
The gymnastics industry, specifically for business owners, is built on camaraderie and sharing, which is really great. There's a strong mantra that if one of us succeeds, we all succeed.
We have many workshops and trainings offered by various gyms and USA Gymnastics. These opportunities allow you to meet other business owners and share ideas about what works and what doesn't. I really like that aspect.
While there is competition in the gymnastics industry, it's not about keeping others at an arm's length. It's more about sharing what works because we can all grow together.
The gymnastics industry has grown significantly in recent years. Previously, for the last five to ten years, we were behind in technology compared to other industries. However, in the last five years, we've really adapted and embraced technology.
We're moving away from paper, and while people might have laughed at paper time cards, I used them as a coach not too long ago. This technological adoption extends to communication processes as well.
I feel like we're an ever-growing industry, always looking for new ideas. This applies to coaching new drills and teaching specific skills, as well as on the business owner side. We focus on the best ways to lead staff and develop great programs for kids that parents see value in.
Ultimately, we are an industry that values growth and adapting to be better. I love that. I'm a person who dislikes stagnation and enjoys change and growth. Those are really cool aspects of my industry.
