What does a day in the life of a gym owner look like?

The biggest thing is that you're never off. That was a big transition for me. I knew it, but living it is a little different.

You get a text at 10 or 11 at night about an emergency, and you're the one to deal with it. Your day starts with your job, so it's important to have balance.

At work, I am coaching and managing. As a gym owner, I'm also making sure all the behind-the-scenes stuff functions well.

If the behind-the-scenes operations aren't handled properly, the front-of-house functions won't work correctly. This includes payroll, taxes, and policies. I work with our HR and safety partner to ensure we follow all protocols and stay up-to-date.

That kind of work, which I didn't consider before ownership, is now a huge part of my day-to-day. I've realized how important it truly is. Coaching, managing, and leadership are significant, but the behind-the-scenes work is also a very important part of my role.
