What is one lesson that you have learned that's proven significant in your career?

I was talking earlier about how important it is to be internally networked, and I mentioned that managing stakeholder relationships is crucial for this. It's really important to know what a decision maker cares about most and what they want.

If they need something to happen, you should position your recommendations or proposals in a way that shows how they can support the decision maker's bigger picture. This comes with business acumen and understanding the business, which is built through stakeholder relationships and being internally networked.

It's important to know what your stakeholders care about and then relate what you're proposing to achieving that. Often, the connection is there, and you just need to help people connect the dots so they can see how it all supports and builds up together.
