Transcript

What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?

There are many research opportunities within neurosurgery, even for first-year college students. We've had students visit neurosurgery departments and engage in research in clinic or in the labs.

If you think you might be interested in neurosciences or neurosurgery, even early in your first year of college, you can get involved in related research. For example, I started my first research experience in my second year of college.

You can get involved in entry-level research as early as your first year. This provides early exposure to the field. Some college students also shadow in hospitals.

This can give you a strong realization of what you hope to do or what you might be signing up for. It offers a clear glimpse into our daily work.

Therefore, engaging in research in your first or second year of college is possible. You can also reach out to neurosurgeons or residents you know to arrange hospital visits.

This allows you to get a sense of our daily work. I believe this is very open to everyone. Most neurosurgeons are happy to have students visit.
