What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
My team is the stakeholder engagement team. Everything we do is designed to create more empathetic relationships with our districts. I achieve this through three different ways.
One is through experiences. I lead experiences for TEA staff to visit districts across the state. This means they can better understand how their work impacts these districts, and how their work impacts kids.
There are teams that help design and implement the curriculum, creating textbooks and training teachers on how to use them. There are also staff and colleagues in finance and analytics. Their work may not be as directly related, but they are all part of the same agency and there for the same reason: to support kids.
This gives them a better understanding of what their work looks like and the impact they are contributing to. That's one way.
The second way is through our communications. How can we make our communications more streamlined and coherent? The Texas Education Agency connects with districts in a number of different ways, through grants, compliance, finances, and programs.
There are many different touch points. How can these touch points be more streamlined so districts can better interact with the agency?
The last way is through some of the tools that we create. How can the agency itself be more effective and efficient with the work that it's doing? My team helps support and create tools used internally to make the work of my colleagues more effective and efficient.
