Biggest Challenges Faced by a Director of Stakeholder Engagement at Texas Education Agency

King's biggest challenge as Director of Stakeholder Engagement at the Texas Education Agency is the sheer scale and complexity of the K-12 education system, encompassing diverse stakeholders and navigating "many spokes to the wheel," including community engagement, political dynamics, legislative processes, and federal funding. Understanding the compliance component while maintaining a "holistic picture" adds to this challenge.

What is your biggest challenge in your current role?

The biggest challenge is the scale; there are many spokes to the wheel. This includes K through 12 education.

One spoke can be community engagement. Another spoke can be the actual politics, encompassing the jockeying, debates, and all of that.

There's also politics in terms of mechanisms, such as legislative sessions or funding from the federal government. So, there are many, many spokes.

There's also understanding the compliance component, and being able to have that holistic picture is challenging.
