What are some of the main responsibilities within your current role?

My current role, for context, is manager of strategy and special projects. I previously worked in the arts, specifically within our orchestra organization.

Most people, when they think of an orchestra or any music-presenting organization, assume roles are focused on planning and producing concerts for audiences. My role, however, is a little more future-focused.

As we consider what it means to put on live concerts in a post-COVID world, many of my projects help answer the question: how does a music-presenting organization sustain itself financially and remain viable as an independent cultural institution within the city?

This involves looking at ways to make what we do more accessible. Part of that means exploring expansion opportunities, both geographically and in terms of how many people we can reach.

A lot of it is also about accessibility, bringing more touch points to audiences and consumers through the various ways they access our music and organization. This includes our website, as well as the physical venues people attend for concerts.

Ultimately, we are looking at ways for the organization to operate smarter and more efficiently. This helps us find more opportunities to reach more people in the city.
