What does a day in the life of a Head of Production look like?

Along with being head of production, I'm also a small business owner, so every day is a little bit different. A normal day usually starts with me checking and responding to emails I missed.

I also check in with the team to get project updates and see our progress. I review proposals that we send out to clients or potential clients.

A lot of administrative work is also involved. This includes reviewing company finances and inquiries, and looking for new opportunities for business growth.

Then, we have urgent days when business fires come in. For example, right now we are applying for government contracts with very tight deadlines.

Government contracts involve a lot of paperwork because they request proposals from the government. You just have to power through all of it.

For instance, I had a 16-hour workday yesterday just working on a proposal because we had a deadline due the next morning. So, yeah, I just had to power through it. That's an example of urgent days.

As I mentioned previously, I also serve as a producer or really any other role that needs help. Some days I spend the whole day editing a project, or I'm out in the field for a production day.
