Entry-Level Positions for Aspiring Public Relations Professionals
Kayla from MarketSharePR suggests that aspiring PR professionals should target "account coordinator" or "social media coordinator" roles, as "coordinator is typically gonna be your entry level position," where the focus is on learning the ropes and gaining practical experience not taught in classrooms. Kayla emphasizes that these roles are about education within the PR industry, learning as much as possible, volunteering, and showing that you've "got that fire in the belly" to begin climbing the career ladder.

What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate or graduate student consider?
I would consider an account coordinator or a social media coordinator. Coordinator is typically your entry-level position, and most of the time, you'll be completing tasks that need to be done.
A social media coordinator would create and schedule content and manage everything being published. An account coordinator would keep tabs on different services, their agreements, roles, and scope of work, ensuring you stay within scope and avoid scope creep.
I love those positions because they get you in on the ground floor and teach you things you wouldn't learn in the classroom. They are also a step above an internship and focus on your education within the PR industry.
Once you spend time in either of those roles, you'll be able to start climbing. Your number one job in those entry-level positions is to learn as much as possible, volunteer for things, and show you have that fire in your belly.
I think those two positions would be the best bet for anyone trying to get into the industry, especially if they didn't have the chance for an internship. Those are going to be the best options.
