Q12: College ideas for success
What did you do in college to set you up for success in your career?
Definitely joining the Sacramento State Hornet and learning all the ins and outs of media and appropriate writing styles. I've noticed that my media writing and AP style itself translates to the way I write my emails and draft agreements. Those skills really helped me in every facet of my role.
And definitely the internship. The internship with my current position changed my life. Obviously, my education was the biggest change of my life, but to be able to immediately feel like I could take this education and apply it somewhere made me feel like it wasn't going to be just a piece of paper.
I really did break generational cycles for my family. My daughter really does have a chance now of becoming a college graduate. It was definitely my internship and writing for the State Hornet that I did in college that really helped to inform the route that I took.
