What skills are most important for a job like yours?

I would say emotional intelligence. A lot of my role is to tell people that something is wrong with their department, that something is not working, or that they're doing something wrong.

This can sound aggressive or blaming. However, sometimes things just end up in a certain place. So, being able to navigate those situations without people being offended is incredibly important.

Also, having the energy to say, "We're going to fix it" and then actually try to fix it in a timely manner is key. Leaving a conversation where you've pointed out problems without any resolution can create a lot of uncertainty.

Therefore, time management is incredibly important, as well as communication. Being able to close loops and ease any stress or anxiety that departments or the people you're dealing with are feeling is crucial.

Attention to detail is also important, but mainly the emotional intelligence part when you're working with people in departments is incredibly important.
