What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

It took me a couple of beers to really understand the importance behind this. I think especially in tech, product technology companies are product companies at the end of the day.

Deeply knowing the foundation, and knowing the intricacies, and how things intersect, and how they combine, and how you build on top of them, that will do more for you than having any kind of relationship network. So it all comes back to deeply understanding the product. Then, use that as the foundation for all of your future career opportunities.
