What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

My job in private equity is to find businesses for us to invest in. That can involve a couple of different things.

Some of it is building relationships with investment bankers to ensure we're seeing the right deals. Some of it is identifying potential targets and meeting with their management teams. I explain who we are, what we do, why we're different, and why we would be a good partner to help them grow.

A lot of my job involves being on the road, traveling to meet with private equity firms, investment bankers, management teams, or founders. A significant portion is on the sell side, explaining what makes our business different and why we are a better partner. I explain how we differentiate ourselves from our peers.

It requires a lot of interpersonal and communication skills, but you also need the underlying finance and strategy knowledge.
